About
Here’s a little about me…
I began my career several years ago as a public school choral music teacher first at the high school level, then in elementary, and finally in middle school. I was actually a piano major in college and that is still one of my first loves. Because I no longer work with music on a daily basis, I find that I play piano just for fun much more frequently. I also enjoy playing piano with my church orchestra!
My next career change led me to the elementary classroom where I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades for fifteen years. I enjoyed the sense of community that developed each year among the students in my classroom, one of the things I greatly miss in my present position. While in the classroom, I became engrossed with the emerging teachnology available at the time and used whatever was available with my students as time allowed.
In the fall of 2005, I changed positions once again to become a Technology Resource Teacher in two elementary schools in Salem, Virginia. Having taken several classes in technology including Java, Asp.net, database programming, and web development, I enjoy maintaining the web pages for both schools as well as working with the other ITRTs on our joint site. However, my first and most important duty is to support the classroom teachers in the use of technology in their curriculum.
The purpose of this blog is to provide resources that very busy classroom teachers can use to help make their jobs a little easier.
